Sweden at the forefront of change in file sharing laws

More than a year ago (two?) I predicted that the current copyright laws could not be kept as they were for too long… and Sweden appears to be leading on this process. What is happening in Sweden is the little crack that will sink the media and telecoms old business model.
In the digital world, content is and will always be easily copied, no matter how many laws you enact to ban that practice.
Politicians that fail to understand technology don’t realize that the main file-sharers are the top minds of the computer industry, and behind them there is a whole new generation that feel that content is a given, and will not hesitate to keep having access to it, regardless of the legal risk associated with the practice.
If it is digital, it can and will be copied. Get on with it and learn to make money in other ways.

Karl Sigfrid told TorrentFreak that the APB proposals make no practical sense. “I think it could be solved in theory. However, in reality, you would need such a surveillance system to achieve this that it would be all out of proportion. So I don’t think there’s a feasilbe way of stopping individuals copying. The cause for file sharing is basically that it’s possible. People have always done it to the extent that they’ve been able to. With cassette tapes 20 years ago and electronically today. Copyright laws preventing individuals from sharing information have never been legitimate in the eyes of most people.”
